Panther Warehousing has invested £3 million in a new fleet to cater for increased business.

The company has taken delivery of more than 40 HGV’s comprising a mix of 26 x 7.5 tonne, 4 x 18 tonne and 10 x artics – as well as 75 SDC trailers and an additional 50 new Luton and panel vans, which are more suited to the two-man service.

It is an ambitious step and one which reflects the increase in demand for Panther’s services and a surge in new contracts – predominantly from furniture and household retailers keen to take advantage of its next-day delivery of heavy goods.

With 230 two-man teams making up a large part of the Panther workforce its unique offering allows online shoppers in England, Wales and the south of Scotland ordering heavy goods at 6.30pm to receive them from as early as 7am the next day.

The investment comes on the back of Panther’s relocation to a new cross dock facility in Northampton.

More than three times the size of the company’s previous home at Crick, the 165,000 sq ft site, at Lodge Farm Industrial Estate in Northampton, allows Panther to better serve the increasing demands of customers and to the exponential growth levels of the past three years.

Colin McCarthy, Managing Director of Panther Warehousing, said: “As the majority of our customers require the delivery of heavy and often fragile goods this represents a significant investment which will improve our service to them and better equip our two-man delivery teams.”

He added: “We have enjoyed consistent growth year on year over the past three years and this is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. Investing in these new vehicles is just one of a series of measures undertaken by Panther to ensure we continue to stay ahead of the market are prepared to meet the ever increasing demands of our customers.”
